Initial Research Pathway


Topic chosen: Hyundai Hydrogen fuel cells 

1) After a discussion with my partner Darius, we have decided to write about hydrogen fuel cells as it was interesting how hydrogen was able to power a car 

2) After extensive research using Google and looking at the Hyundai motor company's official website, we have picked out a car model, the Hyundai Nexo, a second-generation car which runs on Hydrogen fuel cells and was unveiled in 2019.    

3) We have researched various kinds of hydrogen fuel cells using Google and chat GPT by prompting"Different kinds of hydrogen fuel cells", we have decided to write in Proton Exchange Membrane or in short PEM fuel cells. 

4) We have chosen PEM cells as it is used in the Hyundai Nexo. we have researched articles using Google Scholar on how the PEM cells work and their key features. We have written on the advantages and disadvantages of the PEM cells. 

5) Using Chat GPT by prompting "Do such policies of hydrogen fuel cells exist in Singapore", we have learned about the National Hydrogen strategy. This strategy is where Singapore utilises hydrogen by 50% to meet the nation's energy requirements by 2050.  

6) Using Chat GPT by prompting "Other disadvantages of hydrogen fuel cells" we have learned that this technology is not well known to the public. Due to the lack of public, there is not much investment and support for hydrogen fuel cells.
