Critical Thinking Reflection

The critical thinking module has been one of the most beneficial modules in my learning because it has greatly improved my cognitive skills. When I began this module, my objective was to enhance my communication and presentation skills to deal with my stage anxiety and interact with an audience properly. I have made some progress towards these objectives using different drills and chances to perform. I have also learned that practising in front of friends and looking in the mirror to check my performance has been quite helpful in dealing with stage fright. All these have helped me to improve my body language and delivery style thus giving me a more confident and polished delivery.

However, there is still potential for development, and I am aware of that. A common challenge whenever that I am face presenting, is that is I unprofessional. fold This my has arms to and be place done my while hands ensuring in that my one pockets does not fold his or her arms or fold the arms in a way that is not welcoming. Also,  I need to work on my preparedness for presenting certain topics, that is, I should not over-depend on the script. This will help me to be more comfortable with my content if I have read through the facts and figures before the presentation.

To build on my progress, I plan to join public speaking events which will provide me with opportunities to practice my presentation skills. I will also be observing other presenters and will be receiving constructive criticism. This will help in refine my presentation skills and abilities. It will also help to boost my communication and confidence. This module has deepened my appreciation for critical thinking, as it is an effective tool in communication. Analysing information has enabled me to organise my thoughts better and has helped me in constructing logical, persuasive arguments by the audience. This skill has helped me both academically and professionally.

The research project on the drone tether system has been a transformative learning experience for me. It offers valuable insight of knowledge in both technical and essential skills such as teamwork, communication and presentation. Before starting this project, I have no prior knowledge of the tether system for drones. Exploring the tether system has not only broadened my knowledge but has taught me how to conduct research. This newfound knowledge has significantly boosted my confidence in tackling unfamiliar subjects. Being a leader was something that I did not think I would do. It was a lot of responsibility, but I must still learn how to lead a team properly. This has taught me how to work efficiently and ensure that all the team members have contributed to the project. This has also been an opportunity to connect with new people and make connections. Listening to my team member's perspectives and receiving constructive feedback has helped me refine my ideas and on my personal improvement. One key takeaway from this experience is the importance of adaptability and open-mindedness in achieving a shared goal.

While I have refined my presentation skills, I have still need of further improvement. Presenting the proposed solution and the conclusion has exposed my strong need to rely on a script. I aim to change this by doing lots of practice. I also aim to improve my body language as it tells others if I am nervous or brave.

This project is an eye-opener in many ways. It has helped reshape my perspective on learning, emphasising the value of collaboration, feedback and iterative feedback. I will carry these lessons moving forward and to not only improve my skills but also approach future challenges with confidence and curiosity. This experience has been instrumental in both my personal and professional development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to grow through this module.
